Be brave enough to live creatively. The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. … What you will discover will be wonderful; yourself.

~ Alan Alda

Raised in Edmonton, Alberta; I had the best of both Urban and Rural environments while growing up. With close ties to rural relatives, nature, wildlife and agriculture patterns influenced my artist’s eye.

Cast shadows often were more important than the object casting them. The flattened and distorted perspective revealed interesting positive and negative space. While exploring formal studies I learned about breaking the picture plane and the theory of chaos. The seemingly randomness of nature suddenly had an underlying flow and pattern that I intuitively understood.

My early artistic abilities were recognized and nourished with enrollment in multi media classes at the Edmonton Art Gallery, Royal Alberta Museum, the Southwest Cultural Centre, and various Edmonton public library locations.

I earned my Bachelor of Fine Art (Art & Design) in 1994 from the University of Alberta. In 2003 I earned a Bachelor of Applied Interior Design from Mount Royal (University), Calgary.

Currently I am working in moderate scale in my home studio. I am drawing, painting, and collaging . Glass work has been put on the shelf with limited kiln access. I play in representational and abstract work. I like abstract expressionism, visual communication and the formal tenets of: colour, line, texture, and pattern.
